Learn over 30 wild edible plants available in Virginia from experienced forager, Alison and/or David Meehan.
Alison has her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Environmental Policy and Planning from Virginia Tech and has been an avid naturalist, wilderness survivalist, and tracker for 20 years. She is passionate about all things nature and especially bringing people of all ages and backgrounds closer to their ancestry, themselves, and the natural world.
David has his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Crop and Soil Environmental Science from Virgimia Tech and has completed 2 years of graduate level ecology courses. He is an avid gardener, a hobby naturalist, and a wild edible plant and wild edible mushroom expert. He has 15 years of experience foraging and 30 years of working with plants and gardening. A trained martial artist and hobby war historian, he worked for the U.S. Army for 7 years as a military police officer. 
 
Location: Forest Hill Park, VA 
Time: 10 a.m. 2 p.m. Saturday March 18, 2023 
Kids 13 and up welcome to register with an adult attendee.

Thank you for registering for the Tracks and Roots Foraging Level 1 Course - Forest Hill Park, Richmond, VA! Do you have any health concerns I need to be aware of prior to the course? We will be walking about a mile since we have so many plants to cover! We will meet on your course date (10 a.m. 2 p.m. Saturday March 18, 2023) outside The Stone House in Forest Hill Park and we will begin promptly at 10 a.m. Please be aware various events can make parking challenging, so it's wise to arrive a little early. Please bring the following: - A notebook - A pencil/pen - A water bottle - A bagged lunch I will contact you by e-mail at least an hour prior to the course if there is inclement weather and we must reschedule. Class will most likely proceed in light rain, but will be rescheduled if there is lightning. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
